January 22, 2010: Control freak Dr. Brynna Shaw has a hot night with Devlin Holmes, who she met in a bar, & they are married three days later. Fast forward eight months. Even though Dev has his own company Brynna has decided that, just like everyone else in her life, she needs to take care of him because she is the only responsible person on the planet & he's not capable of doing it. Never once does she allow him to take care of her in any way, shape or form then whines to herself when he doesn't. She treats him like he's the village idiot.

When she finds out she's pregnant she waits several days to adjust before telling Dev. Because he is stunned & not jumping up & down she assumes he doesn't want the baby, kicks him out of the house & feels that marrying him was the worst mistake of her life. Seems like the other way around to me. They've known each other eight months & three days & ARE JUST GETTING USED TO BEING MARRIED & HADN'T EVEN TALKED ABOUT HAVING A FAMILY so it makes sense he would be a little shell shocked. Most couples aren't even engaged after knowing each other 8 months but Dev & Brynna are married, bought a house & having a kid. And there is another event that is crucial to them and their marriage and again she doesn't tell him. She was not a sympathic character and by the end I didn't care what happened to her. The only reason I gave it a three was because I liked Dev.

July 17, 2003: Another hit story from a 5-star writer! Cheryl St.John brings the characters to life and their story will grab you. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. The relationship between Brynna and Devlin is skillfully developed and imaginatively written. Cheryl is one of today's brightest authors of both contemporary and historical novels. She always delivers!
