    Synopsis

Once upon a time, there was a redhead named Kate Bradshaw who naively thought Happily Ever After was just a heartbeat away. One kid, one divorce, and a stack of bills later, Kate isn't necessarily a candidate for Man-Haters Anonymous, but she's not winning any points with the love-struck readers of her Dear Cupid advice column either. If she's going to keep her job, she needs a man to remind her that romance can be fun. Someone attractive. Someone easygoing. Someone with whom she can polish her rusty flirting skills-- and absolutely nothing more. Enter Michael Cameron...

One might think a drop-dead handsome movie animator would have no problem marrying himself off. As Kate soon discovers, one would be sorely mistaken. A little too attached to his shabby bachelor pad couch and rumpled Hawaiian shirts, Michael is counting on Kate to turn him into husband material and find him a wife. But little does Kate know that this is just Michael's plan to convince her to give love a second chance and to look for the future Mrs. Cameron in the most obvious place of all: the mirror...

    Annotation

Suffering from emotional trauma after her divorce, Kate Bradshaw is about to lose her on-line romantic advice column. To revitalize it, Kate needs to rekindle romance in her life, and Michael Cameron wants to be the man to help her.

    Biography

Most authors say they grew up reading. But not Julie Ortolon. Born with dyslexia, she didn't even learn to read until her early twenties when she discovered that romance novels were worth the struggle. It was only with the additional discovery of computers with spellcheck that she was able to turn her favorite hobby-- daydreaming romantic stories-- into a career. Having her first novel hit the USA Today bestseller list was a dream come true.

Julie lives on the shore of Lake Travis near Austin, Texas, with her journalist husband, exuberant Australian Shepherd, and spoiled tabby cat. You can learn more about Julie by visiting her web site at ortolon.com, or write to her at JulieOrtolon@aol.com. She loves to hear from readers.

July 03, 2001: Dear Cupid, What happens when a divorced mom trying to make it on her own falls for a laid back movie animator ready to settle down? Romantically Challenged Dear Challenged, Let me tell you, those determined single moms are tough nuts to crack, as Mike Cameron found in Julie Ortolon?s DEAR CUPID. From the moment he laid eyes on fiery redhead Kate Bradshaw in the LA airport, he schemes how to get close to her. The business card she drops at his feet is the lead he needs. The card advertises her friend?s service business, Wife for Hire, which performs duties such as carpooling for busy families. Mike decides he?ll take a Wife for Hire, but only if it?s Kate, and he?ll try to convince her to become a wife for real. Kate is struggling with her on-line Dear Cupid column. It seems her cynicism has carried itself from her divorce from a workaholic husband and into her writing. And who wants to read a Dear Cupid column that bashes the make gender, after all? She loves her job, which fulfills her as well as gives her an opportunity to work from home and care for her asthmatic son. In an effort to prove her romantic streak wasn?t annihilated in her divorce, Kate tries flirting with a handsome stranger in the LA airport. Harmless, until she finds he?s hired her through her friend?s business to make him marriage material. That?s the last time she does a favor for anybody. It doesn?t take her long to figure out that she?s the wife Mike has in mind and she puts on the brakes, especially after she sees how consumed he can become in his work. She?s been there, done that, thank you very much. Any man who wins her heart has to show he will be there for herself and her son. Mike is up to the challenge, and his persistence if fun to watch - who wouldn?t want a man so devoted? His tender interaction with Kate?s ill son is endearing, the secondary romance is charming and the love scenes sizzle
