    Synopsis

They are known simply as The Royal Four—but there’s nothing simple about the elite band of spies who serve the King in secrecy. Their missions are dangerous, their love lives are scandalous…and each man in the Royal Four has his own secrets. This is the story of the spy known as The Lion…

SURRENDER TO A WICKED SPYOlivia Calwell’s new husband, Dane, is everything she could have ever hoped for in a man. The handsome Lord Greenleigh is charming, debonair, even a bit mysterious…and just thinking of their wedding night makes Olivia blush with pleasure. Yet she can’t help but wonder what exactly Dane does all day. His hushed meetings with strangers, his odd comings and goings—it is all enough to drive Olivia mad! Could her beloved husband be involved in something dangerous? Could he even be spying for France?

Spy Dane Calwell knows the new Lady Greenleigh is poised, well educated, and utterly captivating. But he’s just discovered that Olivia is also the most curious creature he has ever met! Most wives don’t give a whit what their husbands do all day. Why must Olivia ask so many questions—and meddle in matters that do not concern her? Truth be told, Dane finds Olivia’s amateur sleuthing enchanting…even a little sexy. But when Olivia gets too close to the mission at hand, Dane must try to stop her before it’s too late—or risk losing his beautiful wife forever…

“Bradley mixes suspense and a sexy love story to perfection, keeping you wiggling on the edge of your seat.”--Romantic Times on To Wed a Scandalous Spy

She is the author of Fallen, which was nominated for a RITA in 2002. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!” For now, she lives in Tennessee with her journalist husband, her two divas-in-training, and the smartest dog in the world. She is currently at work on her next book.

June 06, 2009: I prefer a certain type of romance novel. Originally read as a library book, it got a high enough rating on my personal "like the book" scale to warrant purchase for my keep at home selection. :)

March 16, 2009: Dumb and dumber might be subtitle for the two main characters. The hero isn't the brightest bulb on the tree, although supposedly one of the prettiest. An Englishman whose first name is Dane, so repeatedly likened to a Viking god - and indeed his personality is statuesque (think plaster.) He sets out to marry and produce an heir and then decides he really shouldn't have sex with his wife, since he's so over-endowed. Apparently unaware that portion of the female anatomy manages to accomdate birth.. In fact he avoids even meeting his betrothed prior to the wedding, just in case the subject should come up. (Which parlor do they have THOSE conversations in?) The heroine is ditzy and by page 150 I was really tired of her being so foolish and complacent. (Her mother and husband both roll over her repeatedly.) Spy portion of the plot really slow to show up and kinda weak (the international villian now dabbles in party planning?) Really neither character sufficiently engaging to make this a worthwhile read - quite honestly I didn't finish this book.. Even a good writer like Celeste Bradley is allowed one goose-egg, suggest readers just skip this book and move on to her better work..
