    Synopsis

Connor MacPherson, a Highland laird turned outlaw, steals a bride to honour a promise, although a wife is the last thing he needs. He mistakenly abducts Sophie - recently returned from a French convent. Quickly wedded, passionately bedded and now captive, Sophie cannot escape - but an ancient faery curse decrees that she must never fall in love. How can she get away before the handsome outlaw steals her heart as well?

Sophie's only weapon is her saintly reputation - and soon she makes Connor's life hell by creating heaven around him, gambling that the brigand will let her go just to escape her constant sweetness and womanly influence in his Highland lair. When Connor deliberately employs his reputation as a dark ruffian and a passionate lover, he turns the tables on Sophie's plans. But as his remarkable bride works her natural magic on him, Connor soon realises that he must shield Sophie from those who want her for their own evil ends - while protecting his own heart.

June 11, 2005: NEW AUTHOR FOR ME AND A VERY NICE SWEET READ. THERE IS NO HUMOR IN THIS BOOK AS STATED. THERE IS MINIMAL VIOLENCE. ON A SENSUAL SCALE OF 1-10 IT'S A 6. ALTHOUGH THE BACK COVER SAYS SOPHIE USES HER CONSTANT SWEETNESS TO DRIVE CONNER BONKERS--SHE DOES NOT. SOPHIE IS JUST NATURALLY A SWEET YOUNG LADY WITH A MAGIC SIDE TO HER.RECOMMEND THIS BOOK WHEN YOU WANT A STEADY STORY--NOTHING TO HAVE TO PONDER OVER EXCEPT WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE END.

January 16, 2005: In 1728 Scotland, the Carren Clan Chief Duncrieff informs his brother Connor MacPherson that he must marry Katherine MacCarran to make things right between the clans. Connor would do almost anything for his sibling and he knows he is responsible for the feud because he caused the MacCarran to be incarcerated. He abducts Kate as she travels with escort home; he marries and beds her. Afterward the outlawed Highland Ghost as he is known learns he snatched the wrong sister; his wife is Kate?s sibling Sophie.--- When Sophie learns that her husband married the wrong woman, she decides to drive him crazy with kindness as her clan?s fairy cup says ?Love makes its own magic?, figuring a vinegar thug like her husband will toss out her sweetness. Instead she soon has his clan doing her bidding as everyone is enthralled with her and Connor is thankful for his error. However, the clan feud remains volatile threatening to destroy the growing love between the outlaw and the abducted.--- STEALING SOPHIE is a solid one part amusing and one part action-adventure Scottish historical romance starring a bewildered lead male whose toughness is overwhelmed by the pleasantness of his feisty fairy-like lass. The story line concentrates on the changing relationship between the lead duet as Sophie takes charge through honey, but occurs in a background where the clans are battling one another. Readers will welcome newcomer Sarah Gabriel into the sub-genre clan for providing a fun historical.--- Harriet Klausner
