I'm a geek and security guy and I love this. To get you started on all the concepts and basic functions from message security and key negotiation to negotiation protocols and weaknesses in the surrounding system. There are tons of exercises on every thing... with implementation issues spread through the book

Advanced topics addressed fully, like PUBLIC KEY IMPLEMENTATIONS are covered by the DREAM versus the PKI REALITY. The importance of of simple concepts like THE SECURE CHANNEL... GENERATING RANDOMNESS... TIME and the CLOCK are addressed.
