March 04, 2004: I am delighted to see that this wonderful handbook is still available to persons who care about the English language. My copy, purchased as I entered the ninth grade in September 1952, is a little on the ragged side after 52 years, but it has stood me in excellent stead throughout high school, university, and careers as an editor and a teacher. This little book has seen me through many crises that often plague anyone wanting to avoid grammatical errors. It is superior to more modern books in that it is written in clear, concise language. I not only recommend it to everyone, I'm going to lovingly retire my 52-year-old copy and replace it with the newest edition available. I am not going to replace my other, more highly-touted English reference books. The Plain English Handbook is all I have ever needed.

August 02, 2000: One of my 2 original 1959 handbooks was borrowed and never returned. This handbook is the best and I was certain the handbook was no longer available -- I have anxiously guarded my remaining copy. Now I get to order more copies. I am thrilled!
