      Synopsis

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.

At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
      There was a curse.
      There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

November 21, 2009: This book was different, but in a good way. I enjoyed that the book was from a guys perspective and didnt have alot of over the top descriptions. It provided a good break from vampires and werewolfs while still provding me with a good dose of supernatural. It took a little longer than usual to read this book because there was so much information to process that after a few lenthy chapters I had to put the book down to fully absorb it all. I was also intrigued by the story within the story. Overall this book was a GOOD READ!!!! With the way it ended I cant wait for the sequel.

November 16, 2009: This was an odd read for me because I could only read it in small doses, 2-3 chapters at a time. Not that I found it boring or lacking appeal just that it tired me out when I would read it, which is quite abnormal for me.

I really enjoyed the setting in Beautiful Creatures with its history and Southern charm. I absolutely adored Ethan. What a cutie! This book made me wish I had been brought up in the south. As a sidenote, it seemed that the authors took the liberty to express their feelings about what they deemed as "closed-mindedness". It wasn't enough to get me annoyed/offended but enough to make its presence known.

The love story was sweet and you didn't feel like these two characters just fell in love out of the blue. Their story developed nicely.

This is the first book in a LONG time that I don't have a negative comment. It was an all around good read.

I Also Recommend: Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely Series #1), Evernight, Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, Twilight, Intertwined.
