    Synopsis

Halmi (English, U. of Washington) has edited this classic work by Northrup Frye, his first book (in 1947). The introduction discusses at length the process of research and thinking that led to Frye's writing of the book and its reception by scholars. Halmi's notes provide citations for quotations from the Bible and other sources and explanations of obscure references in the text. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
