    Synopsis

Here is the most up-to-date and complete information about pregnancy, presented in a unique week-by-week format. A new edition of a favorite, it features more charts, checklists, and boxes, as well as places to fill in information about Mom's medical history, doctor's appointments, weight gain or loss, exercise program, and more..

    About the Authors:
Glade B. Curtis, M.D., OB/GYN, is in private practice in Sandy, Utah.

Judith Schuler, M.S., has collaborated with Dr. Curtis on all his books.

    Annotation

"...the author of several best-selling pregnancy guides takes the mother-to-be through her pregnancy step by step, addressing the baby's growth and development, diet and exercise, and important precautions."

    Library Journal

This book is a worthy addition in this subject area. Its format, information, and language are both highly accessible and current. As the title states, pregnancy is followed week by week. A chapter is devoted to each week, covering six basic areas: baby size; mother's size; baby's growth and development; changes in the mother; how the mother's behavior affects development; and things ``you should also know.'' A vast range of material is included, making this a bargain for the price. Similar to but more comprehensive (and up to date) than When You're Expecting by Arlene Eisenberg & others (Workman, 1984), this would be an excellent complement to the more recent The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Complete Guide to Pregnancy ( LJ 4/15/89).-- Kathleen L. Atwood, Pomfret Sch. Lib., Ct.

August 31, 2005: I bought this book in '04. It was great. It has a lot of information and easy to read. I recommend this book to parents-to-be who need as much information as possible without having to sit and read for hours.

September 09, 2002: I went a little crazy and bought three books when I found out I was pregnant. Even though I use all of them for cross-reference, I feel that this book out did the others by far. I look forward to sitting down every Friday night to see what my little one is up to. I know that it brings up a lot of potential problems that could occur, but when I was diagnosed throughout my pregnancy with three different pregnancy related complications including gestational diabetes, I was prepared because of this book. Remember, just because you read about the bad stuff doesn't mean it will happen to you....but wouldn't you rather be informed? I'm grateful that I was. I can't wait to read the companion book for baby's first year week-by-week!
