March 20, 2008: This is one of the worst things I've ever read, regardless of genre. The story construction: Poor. The 'mysteries' are by turns both predictable and nonsensical. You can tell Picoult thinks she's bringing something fresh to the super-hero genre, but the work comes off insulting to the reader, whether they're a long term fan of super-heroes or someone giving it a try. For someone who'd never written super-heroes or comics before, she manages to cram in every trite, hackneyed cliche possible, making this the most ham-fisted and definitely UNRELATABLE things I've ever read. I'd tell Picoult not to quit her day job, but her novels aren't much better than this.
