Women and girls are now becoming addicted at greater rates than ever before-and until very recently women in recovery relied on treatment models based solely on work with men. Harvard addiction and trauma expert Lisa M. Najavits, PhD offers a program to help women explore the often-overlooked problems associated with their alcohol and drug addictions-- such as body image, trauma and violence, relationships, stress, and thrill-seeking. She explores how women differ from men in their addiction and recovery, and conveys a supportive tone to help them embark on the journey to healing

A truly fine workbook!
A reviewer, a woman struggling with addiction, 03/10/2005
This workbook has meant the world to me. I've been struggling with addiction for years (various types-- alcohol, shopping, and relationships). I have wanted a resource that truly 'gets' women. I feel stronger and healthier for going through this workbook.
Excellent
A reviewer, a mother whose daughter is addicted, 07/01/2004
There is so little available on women's perspectives on addiction. This book fills a real need. It is practical and caring, and I gave it to my daughter, who has been struggling for a long time. She really liked the exercises in it.
