Stories of magic, superstition, and witchcraft were strictly forbidden in the little town of Salem Village. But a group of young girls ignored those rules, spellbound by the tales told by a woman named Tituba. When questioned about their activities, the terrified girls set off a whirlwind of controversy as they accused townsperson after townsperson of being witches. Author Shirley Jackson examines in careful detail this horrifying true story of accusations, trials, and executions that shook a community to its foundations.
Describes the social and religious conditions surrounding the Salem witch hunts, the extensive trials and executions, and the aftermath of the hysteria.

December 08, 2001: The Witchcraft of Salem Village is aboout a group of girls who meet in their pastor's house. The pastor has a slave named Tituna ( I forget) and in the middle of the book, the girls become totured by witches. And I don't want to spoil this book for you, those who have it, but in the end, a lot of people are hanged. This book is really great if you live in Massachusetts because that's where the story takes place. Well, I'd reccomend this book for children ages 8 & up.
