"Once upon a time, a very long time ago, Winnie-the-Pooh lived in a forest " The world of Pooh is a world of enchantment. It is a world forever fixed in the minds and hearts of countless children a world where Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga and the others share unforgettable adventures with Christopher Robin.
Winnie-the-Pooh is filled with delight: Pooh goes hunting with Piglet, celebrates Eeyore's birthday, and accompanies Christopher Robin and the others on an "Expotition" to the North Pole. Through it all, Pooh remains the whimsical philosopher and staunch friend, captivating children as he has for generations.
The adventures of Christopher Robin and his friends, in which Pooh Bear uses a balloon to get honey, Piglet meets a Heffalump, and Eeyore has a birthday.
Fans of the Hundred Acre Wood can celebrate Pooh's 75th birthday with collector's editions of Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. Both books contain A.A. Milne's complete text as well as b&w decorations by Ernest H. Shepard. Dressed up for the party, each book features a redesigned jacket plus gold and silver gilded page edges, respectively. Each is sold separately, but they can be purchased together in a sturdy slipcased set. (Sept.) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
More Reviews and RecommendationsA. A. Milne may not have intended to become a children’s book author, but his greatest creation, the honey-loving bear Winnie the Pooh, is so much a part of the culture that one can scarcely imagine children’s literature without him. Milne created Pooh to entertain his son, Christopher, which he did – and millions of other readers as well.

July 11, 2009: I had just learned to read fluently, when I first met with Winnie in Finland. The book had been translated into Finnish, and I enjoyed it then, but since books were a rare gift those days, almost any book was valuable and exiting. That's why I now about 60 years later, living in the USA, wanted to read the book in English and in the original printing.
Characters are still alive the same way, funny, natural, little silly good old friends. They keep you smiling, and that's the best thing a book can do to you these days.Reader Rating:

June 13, 2009: I try and explain to people that Winnie-ther-Pooh and his friends are NOT Disney characters, but unless you have had it read to you at your mother's knee perhaps it is a difficult concept to grasp. This edition is a faithful reproduction of the original and I laughed and cried as I did in my youth. -B.E.Y.
