Davenport has updated his Wilderness Survival book improving on an already outstanding text. The second edition has an updated signaling chapter, expanded text in all other areas of survival, and a new chapter on survival for kids. The second edition is by far the best book on outdoor safety and survival available!

Wilderness Survival is a very good general survival reference for most environments, especially forests and mountains, with lots of useful information. Like most survival books, it's pretty thin on information necessary to desert and jungle survival, and I would definitely recommend additional reading if you think you may be traveling in these areas of the world.
