An "unforgettable"(ANNA CAMPBELL) Regency from the author of The Dangerous Duke.
The Marquis of Vane hungers for Lady Sarah from afar as she braves a disastrous marriage. That is until Sarah's husband makes him an indecent offer: one night with Sarah for ten thousand pounds. Passions explode and lead to a deadly twist of fate that could spell a lifetime of regret-or love.

September 16, 2009: Dwarfed by the plot are the beleaguered lovers, the Marquis of Vane and Lady Sarah Cole. They have been hiding their love for each other for ten years from pride, misplaced loyalty and shame (mainly on Sarah's part). She's been a victim of her youthful love for her murdered wastrel husband and her family's hidden secrets. Through it all Vane has been protective, trustworthy, and loving, if only she can trust him. It takes time and Sarah's strength to finally face all her hidden fears and free herself to accept Vane's love and a happy marriage.

July 13, 2009: An OK summer read; Vane has loved Sarah for years but she is married, unhappily, to another man. Sarah in turn has longed for him, but has kept true to her marriage vows. When the chance comes for them to spend one passionate night together, they both choose to do so, but for different reasons. As they part ways, neither has any idea what that night together has set in motion. The story is OK, but I liked Max and Kate's story better and am hoping that Louisa and Jardin's will be of that ilk.
