I was able to come up with an original look after looking at different styles of website designs. Without the right software or proper art work , some of these designs in the book won't compare to what you want to do. You have to make it with what you already have or invest in more graphic already done or design your own.

This book has a lot of great ideas for any web designer or graphic artist. Gives you the codes for the colors. Also a great book for a person like me who can't match colors.

Sometimes with new projects I get "designers" block. I'm not sure where to start, or have an idea but not enough to make it a big picture, or just need visuals to improve an existing site. Now I keep this book handy for all of those issues and more.
Follow me on Twitter @ twitter.com/jpdesigntheoryThe Web Designer's Idea Book includes more than 700 websites arranged thematically, so you can find inspiration for layout, color, style and more. Author Patrick McNeil has cataloged more than 5,000 sites on his website, and showcased in this book are the very best examples.
Sites are organized by type, design style, theme, color, element and structure. Each chapter is easy to use and reference again and again, whether you're talking with a coworker or discussing website design options with a client. As a handy desk reference for design layout, color and style, this book is a must-have for starting new projects.
Patrick McNeil is a freelance web designer and programmer. Previously he worked for marketing and technology firm TargetScope Inc. His blog, designmeltdown.com, presents trends in web design and provides inspiration for designers by organizing the sites thematically.
