Synopsis

Value stream management simplifies planning for lean implementation. It links the metrics and reporting required by management with the tools needed on the manufacturing floor. In this volume, the authors stress the importance of reaching beyond single-point kaizens to ensure a sustainable lean implementation process. The central feature of this work is the value stream management storyboard, a tool representing an eight-step process for lean implementation. The storyboard brings together people, tools, metrics, and reporting into one visual document. The book is packaged with a CD containing a lean assessment tool and a storyboard template, as well as charts, forms, and worksheets.

April 10, 2006: This book provides a complete picture on how to properly implement and/or teach Lean principles and practices. If you follow the 'eight steps' discussed in this book, you will be successful in reducing waste, increasing productivity, and improving quality of work on your factory floor and in your front offices. When I teach Lean Management to manufactures, this book is one my reference manuals.
