The presence of the Catholic Church in the United States reaches back to the founding days of our country through the leadership of Archbishop John Carroll, the first Catholic bishop in the United States. His story, like the stories at the start of each chapter in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, give us a glimpse into the lives of Catholics who lived out their faith throughout our country's history. Each chapter in the Catechism for Adults includes a story, teaching, application to U.S. culture, discussion questions, a doctrinal summary and prayer to lead the reader to a deepening faith. The Catechism for Adults is an excellent resource for preparation of catechumens in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and for ongoing catechesis of adults.

December 11, 2008: I am currently taking the R.C.I.A. classes to become a catholic. This is a required book to use in the months that the class is going on. When taking the class this book is given to you for free, but if you are someone just wanting to know about the catholic life this is very informative, and effective in learning the catholic way of life. Even if you are already a catholic or wanting to know about the catholic way of life this is a great way to renew your understanding or to get to know what Jesus and the kingdom of God mean to us all. I hope if you read this is will change your way of thinking in to the future, and where you want to be after the second coming of Christ.
