    Synopsis

The Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie away to the decks of that ill-fated ship, the Titanic. There they must help two children find their way to a lifeboat--all while they are in danger of becoming victims of that tragic night themselves.

    Annotation

The magic tree house transports Jack and Annie to the deck of the Titanic to find the mysterious gift that will free a small dog from a magic spell.

    Children's Literature

The entry in "The Magic Tree House" series of early adventure books takes Jack and Annie and their dog, Teddy, to the deck of the sinking ship, Titanic. While they can't change history or take anyone they meet back with them, they are able to help a brother and sister find their way to the lifeboats before the ship is lost. Mary Pope Osborne provides nicely paced excitement for young readers, and there's just enough information mixed in so that children will take away some historical fact along with a sense of accomplishment at having completed a chapter book.

"Tonight on the Titanic" - Great Bookby MargaretJS

May 11, 2009: "Tonight on the Titanic", like all of the Magic Tree House books is a wonderful book. Mary Pope Osborne makes these books both fun and educational. Now I see why teachers rave about these books. While the Magic Tree House and Jack and Annie, and their missions are fiction, there are a lot of historical facts combined in the stories.

I started to read the first book " "Dinosaurs Before Dark", #1 to my 5 year old. She loved it! She wanted more. We are now up to #30, "Haunted Castle on Hallows Eve". Not only does she love the books, she is also learning from them.

"Tonight on the Titanic" taught her a lot of true facts about the Titanic, and she was so interested in the story with Jack and Annie. She remembers the stories and the facts, and is learning historical information.

I have to admit, I also enjoy reading these books to her.

In "Tonight on the Titanic", The Magic Tree House transports Jack and Annie to the Titanic on that very disasterous night. They were on-board the ship from the time it hit the iceburg until it went down. However, don't think that this is morbid or frightening for a child because it isn't. This author is just wonderful. She makes even stories about tragic things very interesting and child friendly. All of the Magic Tree House books are fun and exciting, and they all end on a good note.

I highly recommend "Tonight on the Titanic", and any of these books.

    Enjoy!

July 30, 2008: OKay, it may be short, and a little kid-ish, but it's the magic treehouse! I grew up with this series, and this has always been my favorite book. It is a fantastic series for any and all readers, young and old.
