He entered the automotive technology field in 1974 as a service technician working in both fleet and independent repair shops for six years, and then opened his own repair facility and operated it for eight year. After selling the business, he retired from being a technician and concentrated his efforts on fulfilling my desire to become a teacher and author. After teaching post-secondary automotive technology for five years, he became Director of Education, a position he held for two years. After leaving the post-secondary education field, Barry entered into manufacturer training. And for the past seven years he has been a technical trainer for Technical Training Inc. assigned to DaimlerChrysler Corporation were he provides instruction to dealership technicians. A Master and Advanced Engine Performance Certified Technician with ASE, he is also a member of the Colorado Automotive Teachers Society, and is involved with the College Automotive Program, AYES, and Curriculum Enhancement with Industry Application with Colorado State University. He has also been a guest speaker for NATEF, CATS, and several other organizations.
