    Synopsis

This trio of short stories by the author of Madame Bovary consists of "A Simple Heart," "The Legend of Saint Julian the Hospitaller," and "Herodias." "To any modern writer, in whatever language, these are recommended as a fundamental textbook of style." — Anthony Burgess. Translated by Arthur McDowall.

    Library Journal

Released in 1877, roughly 20 years after the hoopla created by the greatly challenged Madame Bovary, this volume includes "A Simple Heart," "The Legend of Saint Julian Hospitator," and Herodias," along with an introduction, a chronology of Flaubert's life, and other extras.
