Bestselling author Cecelia Ahern, whose sparkling novels have more than 5.5 million copies in print worldwide, returns with an ambitious, absorbing, and romantic tale of things -- and people -- lost and found People disappear every day, some because they choose to leave their old lives behind, and some for more unpleasant reasons. Things, too, disappear: mittens and cell phones, wallets and luggage. In every case, someone is left behind; someone is left to wonder what happened.
Ever since her classmate Jenny-May vanished when they were ten years old, Sandy Shortt has been obsessed with finding things. Now grown, Sandy's obsession has become a calling, with her own agency devoted to locating missing persons. But with every failed case, Sandy is plagued with questions: Where do missing people go? Are they alive or dead? Did they intend to disappear, or did they suffer some cruel fate? As these questions threaten to consume her, Sandy suddenly finds that she, herself, has disappeared, and that she has found all the answers she's always searched for in a magical place where all lost things and people go.
A romance that explores the meaning of loss and love, There's No Place Like Here is Cecelia Ahern's most satisfying, most inspired, most entrancing novel yet.

October 19, 2009: Normally I really like books by Cecelia Ahern; this was one I did not enjoy like I thought I would. When reading what the story was about, I found myself excited to read the book and looked forward to the ending. The first night I read 10 chapters and did not want to put the book down. About the middle of the book is where I found myself getting confused and losing interest. The story line became much slower and began to feel as though Cecelia was getting bored while writing the book. Deciding I would finish reading it, I pulled through and found myself going, "What the?" There were a lot of unanswered questions and I felt I was left wishing I had spent my time reading something different. This will not stop me from reading the other books she has written. I loved "P.S. I Love You" as well as "If You Could See Me Now."

July 22, 2009: To me this book was highly unsatisfying. There were ends that needed a little bit more tying up. For example...I have tons of unanswered questions that the ending did little to satisfy. The story is about Sandy Shortt who is anything but. Because of a traumatic experience of a classmate turning up missing, Sandy takes it upon herself to find missing people, sometimes pro bono, that other missing persons agencies cannot find...then Sandy Shortt ends up missing herself.
