The majority of Wiccan traditions have their foundation in the religion of the Celts. Unfortunately, very little of what the Celts believed and practiced can be proven historically. As a result, many people think of Wiccan Traditions as modern inventions.
That's why you need The Wiccan Mysteries by Raven Grimassi. You'll learn that much of the history of the ancient traditions preserved in some Wiccan traditions has been hidden within the Mystery Tradition of the Old Religion or kept confidential within secret societies.
The Wiccan Mysteries is a ground-breaking work of modern religious scholarship that explores the origins and development of the various Mystery Traditions forming the spiritual foundations of contemporary Wicca. You will discover the inner meanings of various rites, beliefs, and symbols, and how you can put them to use within the Craft as you practice it. You will be able to follow the traditions as they evolved, as well as learn about those derived from other cultures.
Daring, informative, and fascinating, The Wiccan Mysteries will challenge your preconceptions, get you to examine your own perceptions, and expand your understanding of the true antiquity which can be found within Wicca. Here you'll find Mysteries previously reserved for initiates and unavailable to others.
Wicca is a fast-growing religion and dynamic system for spiritual development. Now you can discover the inner keys that give meaning to its practices. This book is the result of two decades of research and scholarship. It will help you take your practices to a new level of power and beauty. If you are a Wiccan, or want to know more about the true, inner secrets of theancient Craft, The Wiccan Mysteries is a must.

October 19, 2009: This book left me with a feeling of deep contemplation. Not the easiet read, or may not be "stmulating" for some. But I found it intriguing and fascinating. Really challanges everything you may have always been taught or known in your youth. For me, uncovering and confirming the things people don't nescessarily want to be a part of our history in religion. A book of truths!

May 21, 2009: I have read over 30 books to date on this subject and found i still had a lot of unanswered questions. This book was very easy to read, understand and was unbiased of the author's opinion. She used everyday terms to bring to life the old religion whereas most other books tend to hit and miss that subject of Wicca. I wish i would have started with this book instead of Gerald Gardner, would have saved me time and money on trying to research what Gerald was leaving out.
