    Synopsis

The thrilling and innovative Mistborn saga continues in a second volume that shows it's not enough just to defeat the 'Dark Lord,' you've got to get through the aftermath as well! Tolkien's "Scouring of the Shire" is nothing compared to the complex and fa

    Publishers Weekly

Sanderson's entertaining second Mistborn novel begins after most fantasy series end, when the team of brave and cunning heroes find that holding on to power is even harder than overthrowing the previous tyrant. Elend Venture, the scholarly new Lord Ruler of Luthadel, clings to power while Luthadel's aristocrats and merchants grumble and two enemy armies-one led by Elend's father, Lord Straff-camp outside the city gates. Fortunately, Elend can rely on help from his lover and unofficial court assassin, the young allomancer Vin, but her magical metal-using ability makes her a target. An orphan of decidedly low origins, Vin is also having trouble adapting to her position as royal consort, especially since the underclass skaa, newly freed by Elend, look to her as their protector. Meanwhile, the ancient evil known as the Deepness is rising once again. This entertaining read will especially please those who always wanted to know what happened after the good guys won. (Aug.)

October 15, 2009: I have read the first book, Mistborn, a week and a half ago and I instantly knew I was hooked to this series. I bought the second book, this one, just before I finished Mistborn, and I have to say, the man knows how to write. Just when you think you have it all figured out, your wrong. Twist, turns, and a well written novel with an intriguing world makes for an awesome read that keeps you wanting more. I can't wait till I finish the third book to find out the conclusion. Anyways, I highly recommend the Mistborn trilogy. Its a must read for fantasy fans!!!

July 14, 2009: I'm a big fan. The whole concept of allomancy is bizarre yet cool. The system seems pretty limited but the many uses are amazing! Go read it!
