April 07, 2003: I was looking for a 'real' Easter book for the kids at Barnes and Noble. Found The Very First Easter by Paul L. Maier. I can't tell you how much my girls LOVE this book. The format is a Mom and Dad telling their son about Easter based on scripture. Both the writing and the illustrations are just excellent!!!

April 13, 2000: This book clearly explains many aspects of the biblical Easter story that can be hard for modern children to understand -- such as why Jesus as an innocent man was killed as if he were a criminal, and why one set of people were cheering him on on Palm Sunday and yet a few days later others wanted him killed. Another plus to this book are the outstanding illustrations. I highly recommend this book for kids 6 and older.
