December 05, 2009: This review doesn't give away any plot lines, but it does give away some charactor development.

There are deffinitely things I didn't like about both of these books. I have had it for a long time, but since the tv series started, I new I had to read it.

I did not like how Stephen was an extremely over sensative male character and how he was betrayed as so much weaker than his brother Damon. I understood what they author was trying to acompish, but I didn't buy it.

Although there were a lot of similarities between Twilight and Vampire Diaries, (I am not complaining, there are only so many ways you can tell a vampire/human love story) I think Stephenie Meyer did a far better job at conveying her points and developing her characters.

Ok. Now that my complaining is done, the good stuff. At first I couldn't stand the main character, Elena. She was a total cry baby who had everything, yet wanted nothing that she had. She became obsessed with Stephen because she couldn't have him. But, about halfway through the 2nd book, I started to feel differently about her. She changed as a character but also was someone who wasn't afraid to get things done that needed to get done.

Throughout both books, I was dragging. I was intrigued, but felt disapointed at the different twists and turns. And then I got to the end of the second book! Talk about a cliff hanger! I have to know what the heck happens!!!! So because of the ending of the 2nd book (even though it was a little predictable) I can't wait to start on numbers 3 and 4!(less)
