November 26, 2006: All that the three billy-goats had to do was to go up to the hillside and make themselves fat. However, there was just one thing standing in their way ? a great ugly troll which lived under the bridge they had to cross. Each billy-goat decided to try to crossing the bridge, with the littlest one going first. But as soon as her heard the `trip, trap? of the hooves on his bridge he roared, ?WHO?S THAT tripping over my bridge? ?Now I?m coming to gobble you up!? Would they ever be able to safely cross the bridge? The Three Billy-Goats Gruff is an amazing Norwegian folktale that has been passed down (possibly orally years ago) from generation to generation. I remember my mom reading this to me, and I will definitely read it to my children someday. This book teaches children that while bullies, such as the troll may seem very scary they usually are not as tough as they seem and they usually have a weak side. It also teaches them that bullying is not the answer because it really gets you nowhere. Ellen Appleby is the illustrator of this Norwegian folktale. I do not know who the author is. Appleby, Ellen.
