    Synopsis

A Roman soldier, Marcellus, wins Christ's robe as a gambling prize. He then sets forth on a quest to find the truth about the Nazarene's robe-a quest that reaches to the very roots and heart of Christianity and is set against the vividly limned background of ancient Rome. Here is a timeless story of adventure, faith, and romance, a tale of spiritual longing and ultimate redemption.

December 26, 2006: I saw the movie years ago and remember feeling deeply touched by the story, and now that I have been reading the book, again I have this same feeling. Yes, its a work of fiction, but it very well could have happened, and most likely did in some form. This is one of the best works of religious fiction (or any fiction) I have ever read, an enduring classic, no doubt as moving today as it was when it was first published in 1942.
