I read this series of books in the 1960's. They are a wonderful series for young girls and a 'realby PaFolger

August 01, 2009: Forty Trixie Belden books were written in the 1960's - 1980's and Random House has recently brought back the first 16 into print. I am delighted that my 9 year-old daughter was enthralled with reading her first one in this day of glitlzy pop culture, and she couldn't wait to read all sixteen which she has now done. Next she plans to re-read them because book numbers 17 - 40 are hard to find in used book stores. They are easy to read and hard to put down once you start.

Trixie lives in a normal house, has chores, isn't rich or poor, and helps her mom weed the garden among other things. She's not always fashionably dressed, she's not afraid to be outdoors, go camping, get dirty and explore. Their family has to watch their budget -- something useful for young people to hear about in characters they see in today's pop culture. I hope more parents and their daughters will find this gem of a series and enable Random House to bring back the rest of the books.
