She is also the winner of the NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry, among other honors. Karla Kuskin lives in Brooklyn, New York, and Bainbridge Island, Washington. And if she were green, she would most definitely be a bean.

August 27, 2007: Years ago my son was 5 and had just started violin lessons. The book was a huge hit from the start. Every night before bed he insisted on reading this book, and only this book. And this continued for a long time. I was very pleased to find such a fun, high quality book that specifically had a positive Classical music focus. My son still loves to play the violin. At age 15 he is now 3rd chair in the most advanced youth orchestra in the state. Occasionally I will show him the cover of the book, he gives me a big grin, and will want to flip through it just for fun. What more could you ask for?
