Boston's North End is legendary for its Italian-American neighborhood. This cookbook celebrates the delicious fare--from antipasto through dessert--that is served in the restaurants and homes of this area. With many recipes from her own family, Marguerite DiMino Buonopane captures old-world cooking as well as the present-day traditions of the North End.
Marguerite DiMino Buonopane teaches Italian cooking classes and for many years prepared and hosted the legendary luncheons at The North End Union, a nonprofit community settlement house and neighborhood landmark since 1892. She has lived in Boston's North End most of her life.

September 19, 2009: I have had this book for several years. I buy it for every new bride in the family. This is very simple, traditional Italian cooking. The recipes are excellent. I especially recommend the stuffed calamari. This is a cookbook worth cooking your way through!

October 22, 2008: The recipes is this book have never failed me. There are a couple in particular that we've made over and over and over. The Osso Bucco and Seafood Fra Diavolo are our favorites. I'll always remember having the Osso Bucco at Dom's in the North End (now closed) and thinking it was the best I'd ever had. Then to open this book and find Dom's recipe, I felt like I'd hit the jackpot. What's great too is that there is a nice story that goes along with many of the recipes. This book sits on my shelf next to the Batali cookbook as my two favorites.
I Also Recommend: Molto Italiano.
