This book has excellent plans for delivering guided reading instruction to students who are beginning readers (Pre-A) to fluent readers. I particularly like the Pre-A, Emergent, and Early guided reading plans. They give you an easy framework to follow to deliver targeted instruction to your students. The lessons bring in working with letters, to sight words, to word families, and comprehension....

After years of trying to compile everything I owned and knew into a lesson plan that worked, I picked up Jan's book and she'd done it for me. This book is exactly what I'd been trying to accomplish for years. It is amazing. I recommend it to new and seasoned teachers alike.
