April 28, 2009: This is a very good but limited little book. The explanation of each symptom is very thorough and walks you through the thinking of how it will present with various diseases, and what other symptoms or signs you would look for to diagnose. (Other books I have looked at have only a list of diseases for each symptom.) It is very easy to use, and each entry is thorough in its consideration of the possibilities.

The only drawback I have with it is that the total number of symptoms is not as complete as I would have liked, and a number of times each week I have been unable to find the symptom I was looking for. It's a great first stop in diagnosis, and when it has what you are looking for it is a very good educational tool, but you will need backup.
