    Synopsis

    Enter the realm of enchantment.

Jessie returns to the magical Realm for the fifth time. The magic of the Realm has rescued her home from terrible fires, and she has saved the Realm's magical people from a wicked imposter, kept the griffin guards under control, and saved the fairy-apple trees.

Now it's Jessie's birthday, and she finds herself chasing a rainbow. She's got to get to the end before it fades, or she may never get home!

Then there are the Rainbow Fairies, who desperately need Jessie's help to find a lost magic treasure. Until it's found, they'll never get back to the secret garden.

    Annotation

On her fifth journey to the magical Fairy Realm, Jessie, this time on her birthday, travels all the way to the end of the rainbow and tries to help her new friends, the rainbow fairies.

    Jennifer Chambliss - Children's Literature

In book five of the "Fairy Realm" series, we find Jessie anxiously awaiting her birthday party. It does not seem like the party could possibly go well, it's raining and the day before, Jessie had overheard her classmate Irena saying how boring she thought the party would be. To distract her, Jessie's grandmother—who happens to have magical powers and is the rightful queen of the Fairy Realm, an otherworldly place that Jessie has visited in the past—sends her outside to count the toadstools, which seems like a ridiculous task until Jessie notices a small doormat laid out in front of one of the toadstools. On the miniature doormat, Jessie finds a miniature key and when she picks it up she is shrunk down to the size of the toadstools. She finds herself the guest of honor at a birthday party thrown for her by pixies and so begins an adventure that takes her riding a gust of wind, flying on the back of a parrot to the end of a rainbow, and once again returning to visit the Realm—all before her birthday party begins that afternoon. This is a delightful and imaginative story with a myriad of charming magical creatures. Each chapter opens with a beautiful black and white illustration that looks almost as magical as the story itself. 2004, Harper Collins, Ages 7 to 10.
