May 21, 2003: This is a big, informative cookbook with a wide selection of authentic Italian recipes to try. The first part of the book is dedicated to explaining ingredients, and the rest contains recipes for a variety of soups, salads, side dishes, main entrees, and desserts. The photography throughout is beautiful. I especially appreciate the step-by-step photographs included with many of the recipes. My husband and I have made several dishes and they have all been delicious. When we bought this cookbook, there were French and Spanish versions of this cooking encyclopedia on the same shelf. I only regret that we didn't buy all three cookbooks at once -- now I can't find the French and Spanish versions anywhere. If they are out of print, they should be given a second printing.
