Little Duck is hunting for a very special Easter egg. She searches high and low with the help of her forest friends, but where will they find the golden egg? Children will be delighted by this fun Easter egg hunt as they discover colorful foil-stamped surprises hidden under gatefold flaps on each page. Accompanied by beautiful watercolor illustrations, this simple rhyming story and hide-and-seek game is the perfect addition to any Easter basket.
An Easter-egg hunt turns up eggs of all colors, glinting with foil, in The Golden Egg by A.J. Wood, illus. by Maggie Kneen. The eggs glitter from behind die-cut, fold-out pages. The little duck never gets the golden egg he seeks--a goose gives him a chocolate egg instead.

June 06, 2009: This beautifully illustrated book features animals on a hunt for a golden egg with lift-and-look flaps under which the child "finds" different colored eggs. Because of its gilded illustrations, the book makes a wonderful gift, particularly for Easter. A young child might also learn his/her colors and animal names by being read this cute story.

May 24, 2009: This was the second time I came across this book and kick myself for not buying it a year earlier. This is a classic. Beautifully illustrated. (I should have bought one for myself.) This again was an Easter gift, purchased two as gifts for 4 year old children.
