      Synopsis

Dr. Christopher Williams's successful guide to conception, updated to reflect the fast-changing science of fertility

Each year a new group of couples decides they're ready to have a baby. One thing they all share: the desire to have a healthy baby as quickly as possible. They've done their thinking, they've made their plans, and they want to get pregnant NOW. Fortunately for them, renowned fertility specialist Christopher Williams, M.D., has updated his popular guide, The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally (nearly 43,000 copies sold), to include all the later findings. Since the first edition was published in 2001, there have been significant changes in fertility research and recommendations to maximize the odds during each cycle. The revised edition includes:

      -An updated introduction
      -Revised and reader-friendly figures
      -Current statistics
      -An examination of new products
      -Up-to-date nutritional information
-New developments in all studies covered in the original book
-The latest resource and reading information
-A new chapter preparing readers for the first appointment with a fertility doctor

This book continues to be a valuable and timely resource for couples ready to start their families.

Christopher Williams, M.D., is a member of the clinical faculty as the University of Virginia Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In October 2005, he cofounded the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia, and he also codirects the Martha Jefferson Hospital In Vitro Fertilization Program. Dr. Williams is married and has three children, two boys and a girl.

      Library Journal

Williams, a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, offers important preconceptual advice for everyone of childbearing age. He discusses how to achieve a speedy conception and explains what to do in the preconceptual and early pregnancy periods to improve the pregnancy outcome and increase the child's chances for a healthy start in life. Despite the book's title, those seeking information on natural fertility enhancement methods, such as herbal supplementation, may be disappointed. The natural methods alluded to involve working with the body's natural fertility by better understanding human reproductive physiology, and the author does recommend the use of medical technology, including hormone testing, sonograms, and vaccines. Still, this is a useful book that fills a gap in the current literature in two ways: it addresses conception for couples who do not have diagnosed medical conditions interfering with fertility, and it incorporates new research findings and information on current reproductive technology. Recommended for all public libraries. Noemie Maxwell, Seattle Midwifery Sch. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

May 23, 2003: When I began looking for a book to provide me with information on conceiving for ?normal? fertile couples, I was amazed at how hard it was to find books. When I came across this book, my search had finally ended. Dr. Williams reviews the basics of reproductive system that I had not studied since college. He goes in depth on timing and how to predict ovulation. I found this most helpful. This book is everything a couple needs to conceive the fastest way possible!
