Christopher Williams, M.D., is a member of the clinical faculty as the University of Virginia Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Williams is married and has three children, two boys and a girl.

He discusses how to achieve a speedy conception and explains what to do in the preconceptual and early pregnancy periods to improve the pregnancy outcome and increase the child's chances for a healthy start in life. Despite the book's title, those seeking information on natural fertility enhancement methods, such as herbal supplementation, may be disappointed. The natural methods alluded to involve working with the body's natural fertility by better understanding human reproductive physiology, and the author does recommend the use of medical technology, including hormone testing, sonograms, and vaccines. Still, this is a useful book that fills a gap in the current literature in two ways: it addresses conception for couples who do not have diagnosed medical conditions interfering with fertility, and it incorporates new research findings and information on current reproductive technology.
