You thought you knew your favorite fairy tales . . . but now Gail Carson Levine has cast a new spell on them!
What would you do if diamonds and rubies tumbled out of your mouth every time you spoke? Well, that's what happens to Rosella after a run-in with a misguided fairy in The Fairy's Mistake. If you were turned into a toad, would you pine after your prince as much as Parsley does in For Biddle's Sake?
The road to happily-ever-after is never easy, but the masterful touch of Newbery Honor author Gail Carson Levine will keep readers laughing their way through these fresh retellings of popular fairy tales.
More Reviews and RecommendationsGail Carson Levine grew up in New York City and has been writing all her life. Her first book for children, Ella Enchanted, was a 1998 Newbery Honor Book. Levine's other books include Fairest; Dave at Night, an ALA Notable Book and Best Book for Young Adults; The Wish; The Two Princesses of Bamarre; and the six Princess Tales books. She is also the author of the nonfiction book Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly and the picture book Betsy Who Cried Wolf, illustrated by Scott Nash. Gail, her husband, David, and their Airedale, Baxter, live in a two-hundred-year-old farmhouse in the Hudson River Valley of New York State.

September 13, 2009: The Fairys Return has 6 beautiful fairtale retellings. Its hard to choose a favorite one. I really liked Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep its a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and in this tale she is not only beautiful but very intelligent. Then there is, "The Princess Test," which is a retelling of, "The Princess and the Pea." This so called princess is actually a peasent with very soft skin. I also like The Fairys Return But if you like fairytales or just girlish fantasys than this book is for you. Gail Carson Levine is my new favorite author although I didn't care too much for, "Fairest." It wasn't too much like Snow White. But if you liked Ella Enchanted and the Princesses of Bamarre read this you will love it!
I Also Recommend: Fairest, Ever, Ella Enchanted, The Two Princesses of Bamarre, Zel.
