    Synopsis

Set in a world of extraordinary circumstances, filled with stunning visual imagery and unforgettable characters, the DARK TOWER series is unlike anything you have ever read.

Here is the fifth installment, "one of the strongest entries yet in what will surely be a master storyteller's magnum opus" (Locus).

Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World on their quest for the Dark Tower. Their path takes them to the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis. But beyond the tranquil farm town, the ground rises to the hulking darkness of Thunderclap, the source of a terrible affliction that is stealing the town's soul. The wolves of Thunderclap and their unspeakable depredation are coming. To resist them is to risk all, but these are odds the gunslingers are used to. Their guns, however, will not be enough....

    The New York Times

The Dark Tower is nothing if not ambitious: it seeks to blend disparate styles of popular narrative, from Arthurian legend to Sergio Leone western to apocalyptic science fiction. More than that, it tries to knit the bulk of King's fiction together into a single universe (or a set of interlocking universes), and on some level even to accommodate all stories, known and unknown, into a master narrative that encompasses the whole of creation. — Andrew O'Hehir

    Biography

Few authors have tapped into our secret fears as adeptly as Stephen King, Master of the Macabre and one of the most widely read novelists writing today. With his trademark blend of fantasy, horror, and psychological suspense, this prolific and immensely popular contemporary writer continues to remind us that evil is still a potent force in the world.

December 07, 2009: Stephen King continues the story of Roland and his Ka tet, in thier unyeilding quest for The Dark Tower in: The Wolves of the Calla; the 5th installment in this series. Eddie, Susannah, and Jake learn to see yet another side of thier father figure and Dinh, Roland, as he sets out to rid the Calla folken of thier long-time oppressors, the seemingly supernatural and unstopable Wolves, no matter what it takes. Susannah is very close to delivering her Chap now and her new personality/captor, Mia, is determined to use Black 13, to escape this when and get to New York, where he will be born.

Killer robots, strange carniverous cacti, betrayal, decit, love and hope, along with not-quite-new friends well met along the path of the Beam, carry this story along and will sweep you away into the world Stephen King has created that seems so close to our own. Almost close enough to touch at times. You won't be able to put it down.
