      Synopsis

Dr. Franco Columbo, a well-known expert on nutrition and kinesiology (and two-time Mr. Olympia) presents the most successful strategies and diet plans for achieving a superior physique. How the body utilizes the basic nutrients and how to use that to your advantage is explained in detail.

      Annotation

The complete guide to healthy eating, supplements, and nutrition for bodybuilders both amateur and professional.

      Publishers Weekly

Most bodybuilders realize the vital role nutrition plays in their progress, and the savvy seek enlightened assistance on understanding their body's use of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. But those looking for more than rudimentary guidance will have difficulty finding it amidst Columbo's jumble of personal reminiscences, warmed-over textbook-ishness, meal plans, and pro forma warnings on steroids and other harmful substances. Woman bodybuilders will also be frustrated by the scant attention paid to their special nutritional needs. Columbo is a two-time Mr. Olympia, and former training partner of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who became a doctor of chiropractics and nutrition. Photos not seen by PW. October

August 28, 2007: Dr. Columbu is my main consultant for bodybuilding and nutrition. He has changed my life, even though I started bodybuilding when I was in my fifties. He is very honest with me, his customer. He does not think much of supplements found in bodybuilding magazines. He competed successfully against Arnold Schwarzenegger during the Golden Age of Bodybuilding, the 60s and 70s. In approaching the subject of nutrition, Dr. Columbu has gone from the general to the specific. He begins with a brief story of his life as related to nutrition followed by chapters on the body as a universe basic nutrients supplements, vitamins and minerals, drugs and wonder foods, and eating for success. Columbu's nutrition is a reflection of his Mediterranean background, since he is from Sardinia. Southern Italians have one of the world's best diets. I recommend this book to any athlete who has concern about his nutrition.

July 20, 2004: This book is fantastic for all people that are intersted in any kind of nutrition. Not just bodybuilders or athletes. I strongly suggest it. It explains almost anything thing that you may want or need to know about almost any vitamin, mineral, or other harmful/harmless products. The products range from tobacco to pot, to the, 'so called' 'Wonder Drugs.' Definitely take a look at the book at the very least. I guarunteee that you wont be sorry.
