(Board Book)
This delightful series of board books is aimed at very young children. The bright pictures, with their patches of different textures, are designed to develop sensory and language awareness. Babies and toddlers will love turning the pages and touching the feely patches.
Why is it not the little one's monkey? For starters, its ears are too soft. As part of the "Usborne TouchyFeely" series, this book includes plenty of textured items to provide tactile sensations. The tail of a little monkey is featured on one spread, but it is too velvety. Next, the feet are too smooth, the eyebrows are too hairy and the tongue is too fuzzy. But never fear, the right monkey is finally found. It is the one with the fluffy tummy. In addition to the tactile reinforcement, readers will enjoy the fun of spotting a little mouse on every spread as well as the back and front covers. Watt and Wells have created an attractive, sturdy board book which should have plenty of kid appeal. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

September 23, 2009: My grandson loved this book. He was just 13 months when I gave it to him. He came back to it over and over. Loved to touch the different textures. I must have read it 10 times that afternoon and he went back on his own to check it out. Great book for a very young one and it is aboard book so it is sturdy.
