    Synopsis

Another Hinton classic available in a great new package.

Companion to The Outsiders, That Was Then, This is Now is S. E. Hinton's moving portrait of the bond between best friends Bryon and Mark and the tensions that develop between them as they begin to grow up and grow apart. Now, it too is available in this great new package featuring the larger trim size, eye-catching new cover art, and all-new bonus material. And, like The Outsiders, the new edition will also maintain the same pagination as the previous edition—making it ideal for continued classroom use.

    Annotation

Sixteen-year-old Mark and Bryon have been like brothers since childhood, but now, as their involvement with girls, gangs, and drugs increases, their relationship seems to gradually disintegrate.

    Children's Literature

This unforgettable classic still packs a powerful message even after nearly thirty years in print. Bryon and Mark are two teenagers who have been as close as brothers nearly all their lives. Told from Bryon's point of view, readers are drawn into both boys' lives, lives that are slowly but surely beginning to head different directions. While Bryon remains levelheaded and realistic about his future, Mark becomes more and more self-destructive, disrupting the lives of those who care about him. Finally, Bryon reaches a point where he must make the biggest and most terrible decision of his life-a decision that will change both boys' futures forever. 1998 (orig.

October 06, 2009: That Was Then, This Is Now, was about two teenage best friends named Bryon and Mark. They are best friends but considered brothers, when Mark was in his early years his parents were in a drunk argument and they shot each other and Mark was a witness of the argument. Then Mark went to live with Bryon and his mother. Mark and Bryon were like brothers and then things start changing. Bryon's growing up and getting interested in girls and thinking about who he wants to be. Bryon hasn't seen M&M's sister since third grade. They meet up and dated. Then they got real serious.

Description and summary of main points . This book takes place at a bar/pool hall. It was about 2 or 3 blocks away from where they lived.

The characters are Bryon, Mark, M&M, Charlie, and Cathy. Charlie is the bar tender. Bryon is Mark's best friend. M&M is Cathy's brother. Mark is a trouble maker. He likes to get in fights. Bryon likes to get in trouble. M&M becomes a hippie and gets into serious health issues. Cathy and Bryon get into a relationship that makes his life perfect. The plot was amazing. The author S.E Hinton is an incredible writer.

That Was Then This Is Now was a wonderful book. I would highly recommend to teenagers .It was a great book the, and the characters were great. It's like you could here there voice when you read the book. That's the interesting part about this book. Most books bore me, but this one kept me interested.
