August 30, 2007: The problem with this book and CD set is that for some incomprehensible reason at Chapter 5 the author suddenly stops using roman script transliteration and begins only translating into Sanskrit. If you wish to learn to speak and understand Hindi before you learn to read and write using Sanskrit you are simply out of luck. As I wanted to learn to communicate adequately verbally before going to India this set was useless to me beginning with Chapter 6. Very annoying.

June 28, 2005: There are better Hindi Book / CD combos out there. I ordered this one because I was going to India and I am very disappointed. The course was not organized well and very boring. Don't bother wasting your time and money on this. Find a different product.
