June 27, 2005: I just wanted to tell you that I started reading the book this weekend, and I couldn't put it down...I went right through, virtually non-stop, until I had read it cover to cover. It is absolutely fabulous. I knew most of the 'medical' story, and I knew most of the 'human' side too, since I had been aware of what everyone was going through together. The book does such a wonderful job in really bringing the anguish and the joy and the whole emotional roller coaster into focus at a personal level. There is something wonderful about how all this has been artfully blended together in this book, so that it tells a story that is so much bigger than the sum of its parts. You wouldn't think that reading a book where I knew how the ending was going to come out would have had such an intense impact, but it really did. I truly couldn't restrain myself from turning pages. I'm glad to have read this one-of-a-kind story that no one else in the world can really understand, even today. All of us sideline onlookers now have a unique appreciation for all that Craig and Michelle endured together and accomplished together through the power of their love and faith.

May 03, 2005: TATTERED FLESH, RESILIENT SPIRIT was written so even those with a non-medical background would have a very good understanding of the very complex medical conditions. What I enjoyed even more though, was the story of faith and love between Craig and Michelle. It is refreshing to see how love can conquer all; love for God, love for one another, love for family. I read the book cover to cover in one day. Even though I know the ending, I couldn't put it down. It definitely gave me a window in to the severity of what was happening to them. What I think takes even more courage is that the Collison's wrote this whole experience and are sharing it with the world.
