Convenient reference tables include pediatric resuscitation, antibiotic therapy, rapid-sequence intubation, toxicology, trauma care, sedation and analgesia, burn care, rehydration solutions, infant formulas, and much more.

Reviewer: Brent Combs, M.D.(Ochsner Clinic Foundation)
Description: This is the fifth edition of a convenient handbook on the approach to pediatric emergencies. The fourth edition was published in 2003.
Purpose: It is intended as a quick and convenient reminder of information already learned about pediatric emergencies. A quick reference is needed in emergency situations, when concise information needs to be readily available. The author has met his objective
Audience: This is a useful tool for any student, resident, or physician who works in emergency medicine.
Features: This handy guide covers a wealth of information. Topics include abuse; advanced life support (ALS) and resuscitation; analgesia and anesthesia for intubation; anaphylaxis/acute life-threatening events (ALTEs); toxic exposures; assessment and care of burn injuries; rashes and their differential diagnoses; approach to arrhythmias, syncope, hypertension, and chest pain; endocrine emergencies; how to assess arthritis, back pain, fractures, and other orthopedic conditions; management of asthma, bronchiolitis, and stridor; toxidromes and antidotes; approach to management of pediatric trauma; and management of testicular torsion and other urologic emergencies. This broad overview of pediatric conditions is helpful especially to the non-pediatric clinician for the wide variety of relatively low incidence emergencies that present in children.
Assessment: This is a must for any practitioner involved in pediatric emergency care. The fifth edition is a needed revision, since the last edition was published four years ago.
