A boy named Barley is nine years old when he is uprooted from his Tennessee home and moves--together with his mom, his two sisters, and their pet pig Rumpy, to New York City. There they take up residence on the top floor of one of New York's finest hotels, where his mom works as a pastry chef.
But "No Pets Allowed" is one of the hotel's strictest rules, and as Barley and Rumpy learn about life in the city, they also live in fear of Rumpy being discovered--and the hotel's evil head chef is on their trail.

Gotta Love The Quirkiness

As playful as some of his songs. Totally original Buffett! Gave it to my whole family to read and then we quoted most of it back to each other!

And the mythical characters just keep on gettin better!!
A reviewer, an American Soldier, 07/26/2008
This is my third Buffett book and by far my favorite. I loved the perspectives each of the characters gives as they move from their relatively quiet and peaceful life on a farm to the storm of civilization that is New York City. Just like his music, Jimmy takes you away and makes you part of the story. Any escape from reality this soldier can get always helps. Thanks, Jimmy!!
