Surviving Aggressive People is the first book to offer realistic violence prevention techniques to human resource personnel, front line workers who regularly deal with the public, and anyone who wants to learn practical methods to prevent aggression in schools, on the streets, and in other public places. Describing techniques long used by law enforcement and psychiatric workers, but not generally taught to the public, this is not a conflict management book, but a thorough description of step-by-step ways to recognize, avoid, or escape dangerous encounters with aggressors. Topics covered include:
- How to listen to your intution in a threatening situation
- How to communicate in a crisis
- How to recognize the subtle cues of criminal intent
- How to respond to the early warning signs of violence
Surviving Aggressive People provides effective early responses to potentially violent aggression, and it is written for a broad, general audience, offering time-tested techniques of violence prevention that can be used by the one person most affectedthe target of aggression. The book dissects the psychology of violence in an easy-to-read, usable manner, and provides readers with the skills necessary to detect and deter a variety of potentially dangerous aggressors before the situation spins out of control. Truly a book that might save the reader's life.
