March 17, 2009: I was initially going to purchase the book from Bear Grylls, but after checking them both out determined that this was the far better choice. Stroud seemingly knows his stuff much more than Grylls. Stroud teaches how to survive when you literally have next to nothing except for the clothes on your back. The only book I think that stands up to this one as far as survival techniques is the U.S. Army survival handbook, however, this book is a much easier read, reading more like Les is talking to you rather than reading formal instructions. Highly recommended if you are frequently outdoors in wilderness settings.
