Purpose: Both the compounding pharmacy and manufacturing aspects of suppository production are covered. It appears the book is more appropriate for pharmacists, since the material covered in the manufacturing portion of the book is of limited value to production scientists.
Audience: It is intended as a reference for use by formulation scientists working in the field of suppositories, and the lists of excipient properties are valuable in meeting this need. The formulation information for compounding pharmacists is the most beneficial part of the book.
Features: "The book covers the history, formulation, manufacturing, and compounding of pharmaceutical suppositories. Designed as a reference in the area of suppository formulation, the book contains tables of excipient characteristics and of bioavailability information, excellent resources for formulation scientists. The formulations are valuable to compounding pharmacists, but the manufacturing section is very esoteric. A quality by design section would be a nice addition to the book. "
Assessment: I know of no other reference in this field that has the same information.
