Mac, Emily, Coco and Becks are so over BAMS— which means their focus has turned to hitting the Big Time. Superstardom, here they come!
Check out the results of Zoey Dean's Nationwide Talent Contest at www.zoeydeanstalent.com, where you can see just how precious talent really is. As we all know, YOU EITHER HAVE IT OR YOU DON'T.
Four eighth-graders are not only on the cusp of adulthood, they are also on the cusp of superstardom. Thanks to Mackenzie Little-Armstrong, daughter of a super agent to the Hollywood set, Coco Kingsley, Emily Skylar, and Evangelina Becks are looking at following their dreams into music, movies, and surfing respectively. The four best friends also learn a bit about following in another person's footsteps and about stepping out into their own spotlights. Young readers will enjoy following the experience of the girls as they get their hearts desire and the inevitable burden of a famous last name. Emily has a mad crush on her film's costar, a young man who is a childhood friend of Mac's. Becks is hired to model surf-wear and boards, but the already-established models are older. In addition, all the girls are annoyed by Ruby Goldman and her "Rubyots"the middle school clique. The novel is filled with current pop culture references in the clothing the girls wear, the places they go, and the language they speak. There are no clever plot twists, but most young readers have imagined these possibilities in their own daydreams. Finally, it is the familiar importance of friendship that is reinforced by the novel's end. Reviewer: Janis Flint-Ferguson

August 24, 2009: FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE A-LIST, ZOEY DEAN COMES AT US WITH A NOVEL FILLED WITH STARS, BFF'S, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TALENT. THIS BOOK TALKS ABOUT THE WONDERFUL LIFE OF A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND HER THREE BEST FRIENDS WHO BY ONE WAY OR THE OTHER HAVE CONNECTIONS TO THE HOLLYWOOD SPOTLIGHT. MACKENZIE LITTLE-ARMSTRONG(MAC), CORDELIA KINGSLEY(COCO), EVANGELINA BECKS(BECKS), AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST EMILY MUNGLER.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS NOVEL FOR TWO REASONS, ONE BECAUSE I LIKE THE HOLLYWOOD LIFE AND SECOND BECAUSE I ASPIRE TO BE ONE OF HOLLYWOOD'S MANY STARLETS WHEN I GROW-UP. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR GIRLS WHO WANT TO ACHIEVE VERY HIGH DREAMS YET MAY HAVE MANY PEOPLE TRYING TO PUT THEM DOWN, OR ROB THEM OF THEIR DREAMS. I SAY READ THIS BOOK, BECAUSE IT WILL GIVE YOU THE EXTRA MOTIVATION YOU MAY NEED TO PROVE THEM ALL WRONG...I Also Recommend: Hollywood Royalty (A-List, Sunset Boulevard (A-List, Privileged, Talent (Talent Series #1), Talent (Talent Series #1).
